Saturday and Sunday, 27th and 28th June 2026, 10 am to 4 pm.
Why make lampshades from porcelain? Light that is cast through thin translucent porcelain is warm and gentle, making it an obvious material for lampshades.
This course will shed light (pun very much intended) on some of the technical challenges to be considered to make interesting lampshades from porcelain.
Topics covered include: Throwing with porcelain and overcoming the challenges it presents, throwing, trimming and assembling more complex forms, measuring for shrinkage to allow for light fittings, mark making (piercing, stamping etc).
Course fee: 249 €
Duration: 10 hours
Tea, coffee and cake are included
Firings are not included. You can fire a maximum of 5 pieces charged at 20€/kg of fired porcelain
Open to all people with some throwing experience (if you can center and pull up walls, you should be fine)
Age requirement: 16+
