Saturday 20.09.2025 - Sunday 21.09.2025, 10:00 - 16:00, 10 hours total studio time.

If you already have experience making pots and want to try throwing with porcelain with a focus on coffee wares, this course is for you. Some of the topics covered will include:

• Proper preparation of porcelain for throwing

• Making porcelain coffee cups, espresso cups, cups and saucers and more

• Throwing using a rib, for maximum thinness.

• Trimming pots with appropriately selected tools, making and using chucks.

• Pulling handles from porcelain pots whilst avoiding cracks (despite your best efforts, cracks still sometimes happen, and I can show you how to fix them).

Previous throwing experience is required in order to get the most from this workshop.

Each participant will have their own wheel for the duration of the course.

While the main focus of this course is to equip you with skills, we can fire a maximum of 3 pieces per participant (reduction fired in a gas kiln) at an additional cost of 25€ per kilo fired.

Language of instruction will be English.

Age requirement: 16+

Tea, coffee and cake will be provided. There are local lunch options available, or you are welcome to bring your own lunch.

This course will be held at our studio in Zirl, Austria.
